Bombay High Court issues notices to NCP, BJP, RPI and MNS over illegal hoardings

The Bombay High Court on Friday issued notices to NCP, BJP, RPI and MNS asking them to explain why their workers put up illegal hoardings and banners on public roads. The court was hearing a PIL filed by NGO Suswarajya Foundation raising the issue of illegal hoardings and banners put up by political parties. The undertakings filed by the parties formed a part of the petition. Last week, the NGO had informed the court that despite the parties submitting undertakings before courts, such hoardings could be seen everywhere. On Friday, a division bench of Justice A S Oka and Justice M S Sonak posted the matter for further hearing on December 7. In the past, the HC had passed several orders holding that such illegal hoardings deface roads and public places and directed civic bodies to take strict action in such cases.
